This is a popular annual event on the Nelson Arts Festival calendar and adds to the life of the City leading up to Christmas and the peak visitor season.

This brings out the creativity in the region including from participating  schools and cultural and other groups. Though organised by a festival committee under Nelson City Council, Rotary provides security in terms of both vehicle access to areas within the parade route and crowd control.
